Foshan University
Situated in the vibrant Pearl River Delta in South China Guangdong, named after the city FOSAHN – ancient with rich intangible traditional cultures as well as metropolitan with developed economy, Foshan University (FOSU) boasts her history dated back to 1958, when Foshan Normal College and Foshan Branch of South China Agriculture College were founded. With 362 acres over 3 campuses, namely Xianxi, Jiangwan and Hebin, whose building infrastructure is of more than 630,000 square metres, the University has evolved into a beacon of high level institution of science and technology in Guangdong province in terms of distinctive key disciplines, since such 6 disciplines as Engineering, Materials Science, Environment / Ecology, Plant & Animal Science, Chemistry and Agricultural Sciences are ranked Top 1% by ESI. From 2021 to 2023, the University is successively ranked among the Top 1,000 in the “Academic Ranking of World Universities” by Shanghai Ranking Consultancy. In 2022, Veterinary Sciences was ranked 101-150 and Agricultural Sciences 301-400 in terms of “Global Academic Subjects”, while Zootechny was ranked 17th and Maths 113th in terms of “China’s Best Subjects”. According to ARWU China 2023, FOSU is ranked the 217th.
FOSU is entitled by MOE to offer Bachelor and Master degree programmes. Currently, her 16 faculties offer 57 Bachelor degree programmes for 17,466 full-time undergraduates and 10 Master degree programmes for 2,059 postgraduates. In addition, 53 jointly-recruited candidates, home and abroad, are studying for their Doctorates. Attributing great importance to global partnership and exchanges, she has always been enhancing plenty of cross-national joint education projects, such as Sino-German double degree programmes for undergraduates majoring in Environment Engineering, Product Design and Digital Media. Upholding the motto of “in knowledge and in virtue, unto integrity and mightiness”, her students have gained 4,603 awards since 2018, ranging from technology to culture sectors, provincial and national.
Adhering to the strategy of Talent First, FOSU is proud of her quality human resources. She is composed of 1,884 teaching staff, among which 554 are senior-titled and 834 with Doctoral educational background. In addition, 6 part-time academicians, home and abroad, 14 full-time national level talents and 25 provincial as well as ministerial are sparing no efforts to strengthen the institution development. Consequently, she has obtained a handful of such achievements as National Hydrogen Energy Technology Standard Innovation Base, Guangdong – Hong Kong – Macao Intelligent Micro-nano Optoelectronic Technology Joint Laboratory, International Research Centre for Environmental Membrane Biology, etc..
