The School of Marxism
The School of Marxism is an independent secondary school of Foshan University. Founded in May 2008, it’s previously known as the Department of Ideological and Political Theory, which was renamed the School of Marxism in November 2015, the year when its postgraduate education in Master of Education (discipline: ideological and political theory) was started. It has 45 faculty members (including 2 School leaders and 2 staff members of the School Office), 43 full-time teachers of whom 3 are professors and 9 associate professors, 10 doctorate holders, and 2 members of the Foshan Municipal Committee Publicity Group. It opens 6 ideological and political theory undergraduate courses that have 18 credits in total: Basic Principles of Marxism, Introduction to Mao Zedong Thought & Socialist Theory with Chinese Characteristics, Cultivation of Ethic Thought & Basics of Law, Outline of Modern and Contemporary Chinese History, Situation and Policy, and Military Theory. Also, 5 courses with combined credits of 5.5 are opened to its postgraduates that include Teacher Professional Ethics Education, Research and Practice on Socialist Theory with Chinese Characteristics, Dialectics of Nature, Engineering Ethics, and Marxism & Social Science Methodology. It has undertaken 6 humanities in social sciences projects of the Ministry of Education and 6 philosophy in social sciences projects of Guangdong province over the past 5 years, as well as a series of other projects at the city department level. It has published 9 works and has over 40 papers issued on some of the most important journals. Its research funds have amounted to over 3.8 million yuan.
