The Graduate School
Founded in 1958, Foshan University is a full-time regular school of higher education that is eligible to award master’s degrees with the approval of China’s Ministry of Education. It’s located in the city of Foshan, Guangdong province, which boasts a profound history and culture, a vibrant economy and strong social development. It’s approved by the Academic Degree Commission of the State Council to have the eligibility of awarding master’s degrees in 2013, and was included as one of the universities in Guangdong that aimed at developing into high-level universities of science and engineering in 2015. In 2017, it’s approved to be eligible to award doctorate degrees.
It has 6 first-level disciplines with master’s degree that include mechanical engineering, veterinary medicine, civil engineering, optical engineering, materials science & engineering, and animal husbandry, and 5 disciplines with master’s degree in education, engineering, agriculture, international business, and veterinary medicine. It currently admits over 500 full-time postgraduates. With the concept of deepening industrial and educational integration for student development, its degree and postgraduate education is not only rooted in the city’s industrial development, but contributes to and leads it, making it an important source of high-level talents for the city’s implementation of innovation-driven development strategy. The Guangdong Joint Postgraduate Development Base (Foshan), a provincial postgraduate development platform jointly built by Guangdong Provincial Department of Education and Guangdong Municipal Government, settled at Foshan University in 2015. The operation of the base features university+center+exemplary site. 12 universities in Guangdong and 45 large leading companies in Foshan have set up operations at the base for joint development of postgraduates, which now involves 497 postgraduates.
