FOSU Gains “Outstanding Partnership Award”
October the 31st witnessed FOSU gained the medal of “Outstanding Partnership Award” from the International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT) and the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, when a partnership and alumni convention held by these two organisations in Beijing, sharing progress and achievements of China-CIMMYT cooperation. Dr. Bram Govaerts, Director of the CIMMYT and academician Xu LIU from the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, jointly presented Professor Yunbo WANG, head of Guangdong Modern Agriculture (Tropical Sweet Corn) Industrial Technology Research and Development Centre, FOSU.
FOSU has been sustainably collaborated with Belt and Road Initiative countries and institutions for sweet corn breeding research, like the CIMMYT, the University of Wisconsin-Madison in the United States, Tshwane University of Technology in South Africa, St. Thomas University in Mozambique and Mariano Marcos State University in the Philippines. FOSU and the CIMMYT commenced cooperation in 2016, and jointly established “CIMMYT-China Tropical Maize Research Centre” in 2017.
Founded in 1966 and headquartered in Mexico, the CIMMYT is one of 15 international research centres under the International Agricultural Consultative Group (CGIAR).
