The President of FOSU, HAO Zhifeng, Led a Delegation to Visit Several Universities in Macau
At the invitation of the Macao Education and Youth Development Institute, President Hao Zhifeng led a team to visit Macao from April 26 to 27, as well as the University of Macao, Macao University of Science and Technology, City University of Macao, St. Joseph University and Macao Branch of Guang Lian Group. Extensive and in-depth exchanges and discussions were conducted on cooperation issues such as joint training of talents, co-construction of scientific research platforms, academic exchanges and so on. Heads of departments and schools such as Graduate School, Enrollment and Employment Guidance Center, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office, School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering, School of Food Science and Engineering, etc. Ding Shaoxiong, Deputy Director of the Macao Education and Youth Development Bureau, Mak Shiwen, President of St. Joseph University, GE Wei, Vice President of the University of Macao, Pang Chuan, Vice President of the Macao University of Science and Technology, Liu Jun, President of the City University of Macao, and Huang Shuzhan, Chairman of the Guanglian Group, received the delegation one after another.
During the visit, Hao Zhifeng signed cooperation agreements with St. Joseph University and Macao University of Science and Technology on behalf of FOSU. Based on the outstanding performance of St. Joseph University in the United Nations Framework for Sustainable Development Goals -“Quality Education”, the two sides intend to cooperate in teacher academic exchanges, student capacity-building, marine science and environmental research. The Macao University of Science and Technology is one of the partners in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Intelligent Micro-Nano Optoelectronic Technology Joint Laboratory. The two sides have accumulated some achievements and experience in the joint training of doctoral students in the past three years. The two sides will further expand the cooperation in scientific research, teacher training and joint training of postgraduates. City University of Macao is also one of the universities in the Greater Bay area where the university plans to cooperate in running schools. During the discussion, the two sides discussed the specific majors of the joint training program and discussed the specific operations such as curriculum matching and mutual recognition of credits. Both sides hope to sign an agreement and establish a cooperative relationship as soon as possible.
In-depth development of Guangdong-Macao joint platform for scientific and technological innovation is one of the tasks of this mission. Led by the Macao branch of Optical Union Group, the delegation visited the Institute of Science and Environment of St. Joseph University, the State Key Laboratory of the Smart City Internet of Things in the University of Macao, the Macao Branch Center of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Intelligent Micro-Nano Optoelectronic Technology Joint Laboratory of Macao University of Science and Technology, Zhongneng International High and New Technology Research Institute and the AI Education Center of Optoelectronic Union Group in Puizheng Middle School. During this period, all parties in the exchange discussed the feasibility of working together to build a laboratory with Macao characteristics in the Bay Area.
In November 2020, the former Macao Higher Education Bureau (now the Education and Youth Development Bureau) organized a “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area industry-university-research” delegation to visit our university. During this period, Macao’s colleges and universities and scientific research institutions reached a preliminary intention with the corresponding functional departments and secondary colleges on personnel training and scientific research cooperation. This visit to Macao is a return visit by the FOSU’s intended partners.
